Hi! I’m Marybeth and I am proud to say that I work for this wonderful organization! Upendo Village works at a local level in Kenya to improve the livelihood and health of men, women and children in Naivasha, Kenya that are affected by HIV/AIDS. Upendo Village does this by providing healthcare, counseling, and teaching sustainable practices that allow clients to thrive after they regain strength. Such as agriculture and micro-enterprise practices and much more.
Upendo Village is 501c3 registered not-for-profit in Wheaton, Illinois. The Wheaton Franciscan Sisters, partnered with the Assumption Sisters of Nairobi created this program in May 2002, and it has been growing exponentially to respond to the need. 25.3 million Sub-Saharan Africans are living with AIDS, and 11.6 million children have been orphaned by AIDS in this region. While this program was founded by Sisters, Upendo Village serves all seeking help to the best of their ability, regardless of faith or nationality.
There is so much good we can do with what we may think is little. Whether it’s a donation of a dollar, or your time, the effect is grand and beautiful! I love that I can say that I am helping change the lives of many on the other side of the world on a daily basis.
